Tips From An Admissions Essay Expert

Posted in Personal Statements | |

Just in case you need application essay help and you’ve waited last minute (which we strongly discourage), here are a few tips to help you ease application anxiety.

First, create an outline of your personal statement. Think about what the admissions essay question is asking, as if you’re speaking in front of an admissions officer. Highlight your background and strengths as you narrate. Be natural as you’re writing…you’re in fact, journaling…your thoughts.

Second, write your personal statement within the suggested word count, and then come back and edit it for clarity.

Third, read your personal statement aloud and ask a friend or family member to listen in. Take critiques and make corrections to your personal statement as best as you can.

HINT: You may request personal statement samples from our offices, if you are a client. Otherwise, you can call one of our admissions consultants for feedback. As always, good luck!
